Veteran Services
The Department of Veterans Services was created by the Board of County Commissioners to improve access to services for Okaloosa County veterans and their dependents. The department provides complete veterans' assistance, information, and counseling for filing, developing and appealing claims pertaining to the full spectrum of veterans' entitlements. The department also assists homebound and/or nursing home clients through its outreach program. This program is especially helpful to older veterans and their surviving spouses.
Okaloosa County is the home of tens of thousands of veterans. The total VA dollars expended to eligible veterans and dependents in Okaloosa County for FY 2024 were $157,236,078.
